Lyriken som fick Kirk Hammett och James Hetfield att gråta

Hammett förklarade att utbrotten inträffade medan de spelade in en låt som heter "Junior Dad" och berättade:

"I had just lost my father literally three or four weeks previous. I had to run out of the control room, and I found myself standing in the kitchen, sobbing away. James came into the kitchen in the same condition — he was sobbing, too. It was insane."

Texterraderna som tog hårdast på de två Metallicamedlemmarna var tydligen "Say hello to junior dad/The greatest disappointment/Age withered and changed him."

Hamett tillade: "[Reed] managed to take out both guitar players in Metallica in one fell swoop, with his amazing poetic lyrics."
James Hetfields far övergav familjen när James var bara 13, en upplevelse att sångaren / gitarristen har talat om mycket om i en ny dokumentär som heter "Absent".

Albumet "Lulu" kommer ut den 31 oktober överallt utom i nordamerika där den släpps 1 november och det spelades in i hemlighet i maj på Metallicas studio i Bay Area. Skivan är uppbyggd kring den musik Reed ursprungligen skrev för en scenisk produktion av "The Lulu Plays".
